St. Michael

11 May 2006
My best attempts to get this photo diary running on “real time” aren’t working.  The latest break in service was due to a lack of a reliable internet service from my ISP.  That means that images are still being posted about two weeks late!  Please bear with me… all the entries for all the days do exist… but  rather than swamp you with two weeks worth of pictures in one go I’m uploading several images each day until I manage to catch up.  So use the ‘previous’ link to ensure you don’t miss any!

Today’s theme – April sales.  All the images I’m uploading today are images which sold during April.

24 April – St Michael

The statue of Saint Michael defeating Satan on the side of the new Coventry Cathedral.

One of the interesting things about this image is the digital modification that I had to do to it.  When the picture was originally taken I was looking up at the statue.  That meant the verticals in the image were converging towards the top of the picture.  The image has been streached/compressed to make it appear as though the image is being view from straight on – something you can’t do with out a tall ladder or without moving a long way back and using a long telephoto lens.

This image sold on 5th April 2006 while we were in Tunisia.
