The Siq and Treasury, Petra, Jordan
This is the Treasury in Petra. You approach it down a narrow gap in the rocks called “El Siq”.
I took this photo when I first visited Petra. I thought, at the time, that I have been unbelievably lucky to find a camel sitting in the most photogenic position possible. A few years later I went back to Petra and again a camel sitting in this exact spot. I’ve since looked at scores of photos taken by other photographers of this view. In just about every case, there is a camel sitting in the same place!
In the UK we paint our seaside piers to make them look nice for tourists. In Jordan they strategically place a camel!
Is this the camel that has gone through the eye of the needle?
