Just short of the summit of Mout Sinai is a strange wooden/wicker construction. Can anyone guess what the purpose of it is?

The answer is… it’s a toilet!
An outhouse on Mount Sinai? ;-)
A phantom Fanta seller’s storeroom? (Is Andy’s remark a euphemism for the local ‘restroom’ facilities?)
I thought it might be a storeroom for the mountaintop trader previously pictured, but then I found you have already posted the answer elswhere on the net – but I won’t spoil the fun … yet.
It looks like a sukkah to me. It;s the temporary dwelling that the Israelites were ordered to live in on their journey to the promised land. The Feast of Sukkot is also called Tabernacles/Dwellings/Booths and is an everlasting ordinance which hasn;nt been discontinued, it continues in the millenium reign of Jesus. It represents several things: 1. That this world is temporary, that the sukka of our bodies is a temporary dwelling. 2. Reminds us to rely on God – you slat the roof and cover with fallen branches so you can see the heavens – so constantly looking up to God in Praise. 3. For our family it is our “Christmas” where the Shekinah (vehicle which houses the spriti of God) came and dwelt amongst us (you can work out the date of Jesus’ birth from the clues in NT Scripture and the language. I;m really enjoying these pictures, thanx Ian.
Through extensive research and studying with the world’s best egyptoligist’s my answer would have to be a….. Taxi Stand.
I reckon you walked all the way to the top of the mountain, only to find that there is a lift. This little room stands above the lift shaft and houses the gear wheels. On second thoughts, maybe it’s a memorial built on the exact spot where Dr. Who landed! Complete with little blue flashing light on top!
Perhaps the Chameleon Circuit is working after all?
