First world war diary

My POTD is not the first diary to be kept in the Butterfield family.  My grandfather was a private in the first world war.  He kept a diary of his experiences including an account of being on a ship which was torpedoed and sank in the Meditaranian sea.  He also describes visiting locations that I have been to including time on Malta and in Egypt

My dad has loaned the diaries to us and Ann is going to have a go at transcribing them.  Some pages, like those shown in this photo are fairly easy to read, others are quite difficult.  What little of these diaries I have read so far is facinating.
