I had a shoot with model Katie last week we worked on a number of glamour and art nude images. I've been experimenting recently with using a Union Flag as an element in the images I am creating. This is one of the results.
I am not sure whether to call it a glamour nude image or an art nude image (and to be honest I don't really think it matters) but I am interested in what others think. Please give your reasons as to why you think it is one rather than the other… I'll post some thoughts about the distinctions (or lack of) later in the week.
You can see a lot more from the shoot with Katie here: http://photos.imb.biz/model/shoot/katie2 – but as you might expect please be aware that the album contains nudity.

I would go with glamour. It's a personal thing at the end of the day, and I don't want to come across as being all "keyboard warrior-ish" as other will no doubt disagree with me and it isn't really my style… but I would look at art nude as something that I would hang on my wall; whereas this particular image would be more suited to a magazine publication IMO.
Glamour. mainly because of the lighting and cutesy general style
That's great. I often use the Union flag in my designs.
I agree on the glamour response. It doesn't have an "artsy" feel to it, where generally you see more dynamic and moody types of lighting situations, leaving the viewer to soak in deeper feelings, etc, associated with it. Glamour is usually more straight forward in its message, like this shot.
It is quite easy to decide actually. If you made it as art it is art. If you did not it is not :) It is not the final result which decide. It is the process and thoughts of the author.
Like all things artistic Ian it can be a fine line between the two and I kinda like the way +Gjøran Sæther has summarised it – although I've known people try to put lipstick on a pig and insist it's art worthy of sums of money with several zero's. One of the pivotal points around which the debate 'Is this a work of art or not?' is the question 'does it catalyse people into discussing the merits of the work, the emotions it raises for them and what is the sense of connect you have with it? '
Your image, in my opinion, does just that so I would QED job done…
I'd say glamour cos of direct eye contact with camera
I have a far simpler method of deciding: If the Mrs approves … it's art. If she beats me about the head… it's glamour! ;o)
Art Nude , Fine Art … could there be any larger grey areas? what comes under what is anyone's guess these days. For me this would be more Glamour than Art Nude. But ultimately its the image not the genre that counts.
Is it not just nude for nude sake? For me it's neither glamorous or artistic.
PART 2
I've just posted a different image and explained my thoughts on this here:

To me this is Glamour Work…
