Macro & Focus Stacking

Friday, 18 May 2012 , 1:00 AM – 1:00 AM
Location: Ian’s Studio

One of the limitations with macro photography is the very shallow depth of field.  At this Friday night event we will explore the use of focus stacking when doing macro photography work.If you have your own macro lenses, or extension tubes please bring them along.  If you are a canon shooter I will have some that you can borrow.Other kit to bring: tripod and focusing rails if you have them.  (Don’t panic if you don’t as I have both at the studio that you can use).  If you wish to follow through the focus stacking techniques on your own laptop you are welcome to bring that along too.

Once we have taken a set of images, I will guide you through techniques for combining the images together to get that all important wide depth of field.

(Note: event image of beads shows a standard macro shot without focus stacking)

Wet and Messy Day

Saturday, 19 May 2012 , 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: Ian’s Studio
At this full day event we will work with an established glamour model to create a different images using water and different messy substances such as chocolate & cream, foam, paints, and slime.

This event is designed to build on the topics covered at the Messy Art Nude Workshops run earlier this year.  We will be working on different images from those we created in the workshop, and thus this day is ideal for those who have previously attended one of the workshops.  (although that is not a prerequisit).

I am really pleased to be able to announce that our model for this event will be Bex H – Bex has already done two shoots at the studio (Glamour Costumes and Double Trouble) you can see her profile on purpleport: http://purpleport.com/portfolio/bexh/ and on purestorm: http://www.purestorm.com/Bex_HBex will be working up to nude levels. There is plenty of scope within the day to work on messy ideas that those attending wish to bring to the event.  If you have a very specific idea you wish to try please let me know before hand so that I can schedule the different set-ups in the most efficient way.

For the benefit of those who have recently done the workshop with Kiki Devine, we will be working with a different model on this occasion.  I will announce details of the model at a later date.

Here’s some messy ideas to get start you thinking…. http://photos.imb.biz/messy-highlights
(As you might expect the gallery contains artistic nudity)

You can see example images from the March 24th messy workshop (with Kiki Devine as the model) here: http://photos.imb.biz/model/shoot/kikimessy

Please note: While care will be taken to try to ensure that those attending the event do not get messy, you should be aware that we are working with messy substances such as paint and food substance which may stain.  Wearing old clothes is advised.

We require a minimum of three photographers to book for this event to take place.

Snakes on a Nude

Friday, 25 May 2012 , 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Location: Ian’s Studio

Tonight we will be working with an an art nude model and one or more live snakes. In addition to figure style art nude images with the snake draped over our model, we will attempt to create some “temptation” style images incorporating model, snake and an apple.

I am also looking into the possibility of having the model working with some large spiders!

Our model for this event will be Amber (aka “Zombie Candy”) Purestorm Profile: http://www.purestorm.com/ZombieCandy Purpleport Profile: http://purpleport.com/portfolio/zombiecandy/  (Both contain nudity)

We take the well being of all the animals involved in this shoot very seriously.  The snakes will be provided by an experienced snake handler who will take care of all the animals involved in the shoot.  Amber herself keeps snakes and spiders and is thus used to handling them.

Digital rain & wet-look glamour workshop

Saturday, 26 May 2012 , 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: Ian’s Studio
This one day training event will teach how to create wet-look glamour images and to add rain effects and lightning effects in Photoshop.During the morning we will spend 2-3 hours in the studio working with one or more models (depending on the number of photographers attending) to create the wet-look glamour images which will be the basis of our completed shots.

During this time you will learn how to set up the lights needed to create the effects.  You will learn some of the tricks employed to create wet-look images, including how to make the water droplets more visible, and how to control where the water goes.  The session is a practical session and you will have plenty of opportunity to take photographs.

After lunch (which is included in the price of the course) we go into a tutorial session where you will be shown how to use Photoshop to add digital rain and digital lightning effects to the images we created during the morning session.   If you have a laptop with Photoshop on it you are welcome to bring it with you and follow the tutorials as we go through them.  Alternatively you can sit back, watch and then try out the techniques at your leisure at home.  Either way you will be provided with printed notes on how to achieve the effects and a CD with a video screencast showing you the steps for both digital rain and digital lightning.

Cost £69 (includes lunch, printed notes,  and a disk with video tutorial)
