Fellow Photographers,

Just wanted to let you know about about a couple of things.  Firstly this Friday’s event at the studio is a glamour event with Kaylee Lea.  Lots of places still available.  On Sunday we are due to start our next run of the “Introduction to DSLR Photography” course.  If you would like to come to either of these events please book ASAP.

In a little over a weeks time we have our Night Photography Workshop at Woodford.  We start at 5pm.  The first 45mins will be a talk about the techniques we will be using, but this is optional so if you been before and just want to get on with shooting then you can use that time to get some extra location shots at this very atmospheric location.  We already have a good number of people booked for this event and are very close to booking an extra model.

For more information on all of these things… please read on…

Forthcoming Events

Friday, 5 April 2013 – Multi-Image Strips

Multi-Image Strips

Location: Ian’s Studio
Time: 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Price: £29

For tonight’s Friday Night at the Studio event, we are looking at creating image strips.  These are composite images usually consisting of the same person in different poses or outfits.

Often, but not always these images are presented if the form of a striptease   If you want to see examples of these types of images please take a look at this gallery: http://photos.imb.biz/genre/strips (NOTE: the images do contain nudity).

Our model for this event will be Kaylee Lea (http://purpleport.com/portfolio/kayleelea/?referrer=iansstudio) you can see images from her recent visit to the studio here: http://photos.imb.biz/model/shoot/keyleeglamour – Kaylee will be working to glamour nude for this event.

The photoshop techniques for combining the images are pretty straight-forward and not everyone will need/want instruction. But for anyone who is unsure of how to do it, I will be running an “after hours” session 10pm – 11pm to show you the techniques I use… and no you DON’T have to cut round each image in turn!

Price: £29  (+ £5 if you wish to stay for the after hours Photoshop tutorial session).

Throughout the evening you will be able to work on your own images at your pace using the atmospheric church yard and the model(s).  Alternatively work with other photographers sharing ideas and techniques.  For those who need it I will be offering practical advice in small groups and one-to-one through out the event.

Once it is completely dark we will use painting with light techniques and multiple off-camera flash techniques.

Depending on the number of photographers booking to come we will have at least one model and probably two available to add ‘human interest’ into the atmospheric images we will be producing.  If we have a large number of photographers booking for this event additional models will be booked.

Printed notes detailing the techniques will be supplied and snacks / tea & coffee will be available throughout the event

This is the sixth time I have run a night photography event at Woodford and each time the event has proven to be very popular.

In addition to your camera for this event you will need to bring a tripod and a torch.  If you have an external flash gun, wireless flash triggers, and portable lighting stands you may wish to bring those as well.  I will have spare wireless triggers, flash guns, stands and even a spare tripod or two that can be borrowed on the night.  So if you don’t have your own don’t let that put you off booking for this event.

Our model for this event will be Dante-Layla.  See her profile on Purestorm:

Price £40.00 per person

A deposit of £15 is required to secure a place – you can pay your deposit (or the full amount) on-line via this page.

From the Blog…

Review Centre

I have just signed up with the “The Review Centre” – if anyone feels able to leave a review of the studio or of me as a provider of photographic services here the link: http://www.reviewcentre.com/Photographers/Ian-s-Studio-www-ians-studio-co-uk-reviews_1945786

I believe enough in the service I provide to my clients to use a recognised, independent third party review service.  Signing up to the service means that the ONLY way I can control what people write is to provide studio and photographic services that people are happy to endorse.

Obviously I hope I will be getting good reviews, but let me take this opportunity to remind everyone that if ever you are unhappy about any part of the service I offer either as a studio or as a photographer, then please tell me and give me chance to put it right.

Comic Relief : Thank you

I would like to publicly thank everyone who supported our com Comic Relief Fundraiser event last Friday.  Especially our four models, Sarah, Mez, Victoria and Leah.  Between us we raised a total of £202 for comic relief.  Well done and thank you!

Photo of the Day

POTD 10 Mar 2013 – Distorted Glass

Bottles back-lit on a shelf

Taken on a Mother’s Day visit to see my mum. When I took this image it was always with the intention of processing it to extreams. I managed to take this so far in Lightroom – I got a very pseudo HDR look but wanted something a little more graphical. A quick trip into photoshop and the application of the “cutout” filter gave the effect I was looking for.
