Come to the studio to learn the basics of studio portraiture. No previous studio experience is necessary at this three-hour session you will learn a number of techniques for creating studio portraits. You will learn several different lighting set-ups and we will use a simple step by step technique for ensuring that the studio lights give the effect you are looking for in your portraiture lighting.
At this session, we look at three different types of sandwich lighting suitable for studio portraiture. Although we will be using the lighting setup as lighting in for portraiture, it is possible to use the lighting set-up you learn at this session for other genres. The lighting set-ups covered at this session will be:
- Large softbox key light with gridded rim on a coloured background
- Gridded beauty dish with gridded rim light on a grey background
- Strip light (with and without grid) with gridded rim and gridded/gelled background light
The session is a practical session and you will have the opportunity to practice these types of lighting by photographing a model. You will be provided with lighting diagrams for the lighting set-ups taught at this session.
The model for this event will be announced shortly
