Ian was a guest speaker on the Marco Polo cruise ship during a 10 week voyage around South America (Jan-March 2019). His popular talks on photography were varied, interesting and useful, applicable to those of all abilities (we only use iPhone cameras). Ian was inspirational and made us want to try out simple new techniques to capture wonderful memories of this trip. He also provided helpful information on how to save our images in a logical and orderly manner and gave 1:1 support to passengers as needed to resolve photography issues.
But Ian was much more than a photographic speaker. He set up fun competitions, he gave out advice and tips for our destinations, he shared his own photography and travelogues of the destinations as well as life on board, and he gave fascinating talks on topics unrelated to photography.

I have got to know Ian through attending his excellent Academy programme of photography and Lightroom courses and workshops. I booked with Ian, and a female model, a 3 hours assisted studio shoot for me to learn more from Ian about studio lighting set ups and working with models. Ian is a friendly cheerful guy who delivered his practical tuition for me in very easily understandable stages, we decided on a range of different lighting set ups and backdrops for five shoot sets, each shoot set was very successful and I’m extremely pleased with the resulting images.
