Famine Monument, Dubin, Ireland (Image Reference: 20190728A-G0211)
On 27th July 2019 – MV Magellan visited Dublin. I have been to Dublin three times before and though knew most of the locations to visit there.
Somehow, despite it being there many years I had never seen this monument to the Irish Famine. It is both beautiful and haunting.
The monument shows a series of emaciated figures walking as though to board a ship to escape the famine. Each figure is based on a real person.
There were several figures but I felt the strongest composition was to concentrate on just one figure with another in the background out of focus.
In lightroom, I have added a little texture and clarity and boosted the blue of the sky.
Settings: 1/1250s, f/4, ISO 100. Lens: EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM @47 mm.
