Continuing my series of images from Tunisia – this is one of the many carved ceilings on display in the Bardo museum in Tunis.

For those who view this photo diary via RSS or via email – I would strongly advise that you click on the picture to see it ‘full size’.  There is so much fine detail in the carving that it is worth seeing the image as large as possible.  In fact there is so much detail that I’ve even made the version on the POTD website larger than I would normally upload just so you can appreciate the workmanship that must have gone in to creating this ceiling.

For those more knowledgeable on these matters that I – can anyone tell me the correct name for this type of carved ceiling?
