Praying at the Western Wall
This photograph was taken on my first trip to Israel. Believe it or not this was one of the busiest days at the Western (Wailing) Wall. It was “bar mitzvah day” and the place was crowded.
The isolated look of the figure praying was only achieved by chance. There was a long line of men praying, they were elbow to elbow. I saw the two men either side of the man in my photo leave the line. In the couple of seconds before two other men took their places I managed to grab this shot.
Only time for one shutter press and then the moment was gone.
I always find it very moving to watch someone at prayer, they are so intent on what they are doing that nothing else matters, (just as it should be)
