The Good Shepherd carving.

I was working on some of my Tunisian photographs today, including this image of a carving of the Good Shepherd carrying a sheep. It is in the Archaeological Museum, Sousse.  The carving is an illustration of the Bible passage where Jesus describes himself as being like a good shepherd search for the lost sheep.

I don’t know exactly how old the carving is but based on the other items in the museum, I would guess at 3rd or 4th Century.

The image might make a nice greetings card… maybe at some point I’ll design a card using it.

Ann reckons the sheep looks very pleased to be rescued… either that or it is too dim to know it was lost!
