Oia – Santorine
Today was an eighteen hour excursion…. to the famous island of Santorine. Santorine is a volcano that erupted in about 1500 bc. That explosion was the largest known explosion to have happened on earth. The resulting tsunami destroyed the Minoan civilization, and is also thought by some to have been the physical explanation for the “parting” of the Red Sea in the Bible.
In the 21st century Santorine is THE most beautiful Greek island, with terraced buildings with sun drenched white walls set against deep blue skies. Unfortunately today it was raining! (So I’ve had to be inventive in how I photograph the island).
