Boundary Stone. Eyam, Derbyshire, United Kingdom.
Continuing the images from yesterday’s trip to Eyam….
This stone is the Eyam boundary stone. This is where food was left for the Eyam villagers while the village was quarantined during the plague. The five holes were where coins were left to pay for the food. The holes were filled with vinegar to prevent the spread of the disease.
Hi it’s me again. Mum’s just been in to have a look at your photo’s & was quick to tell me that you went to Eyam on 23.7.07. She liked the group picture especially of Ann. Can you please use a larger font for ease of reading. Ta Dad..
