Stockport Garrick: Art
I was thinking today what makes a good theatre photograph. Obviously some of the same rules apply with theatre photography as with any other field: Composition, exposure, etc. For example yesterdays’s POTD works well for composition. I’ve got my main subject on one of the 1/3 divisions (the so-called rule of thirds). The image has both foreground and background interest. But as I said that’s true for any photograph.
Today’s POTD however is about the magic of theatre photography. It is about capturing a moment and capturing the emotion. If you can do that and still get good exposure and compostion then that, I believe, is what make a good theatre photograph.
