Siege Bell Memorial, Valletta

We decided that today should be a day of rest.  So we only went as far as Valletta where after walking across the city (taking photos as we went) we visited the “Malta Experience” an audio-visual experience about the history of the island.  After lunch we went to see the Siege Bell Memorial – a memorial unveilled in 1992 to those who died in the Siege of Malta during the second world war.  Then after a visit to Lower Barracca Gardens and after failing to get into Fort St Elmo, we went round an exhibition about the Knights Hospitallers (Knights of St John).  Strange exhibition actually – well put together… but we both came out thinking that we didn’t actually understand the knights any more than when we went in.

That’s a quiet day for us.  Tomorrow we plan to visit THREE cities!
