Witness for the Prosecution – Act 2
Tonight was the first night of ‘blocking’ with Witness for the Prosecution. That’s the technical term for a director telling his cast where to go! (on stage that is).
Not that much movement involved in this scene, so it was reasonably straight forward. The biggest challenge is to do with the fact that the two barristers will be standing with their backs to a large part of the audience. I took a gamble in staging it this way, as that is how it would be if you were in the public galleries in a real court. Having seen it in action for the first time tonight I think it will work. It does look a little odd in the reheasal room. But the actual set will have 4 different levels of stage for the court room, so the action should be clearly visible.
