A chipmunk looks at tourists at a cafe in Jandia, Fuerteventura, Spain (Image Reference: 20120112A-E00449)

Visiting Jandia today we had nearly 5hrs to explore. Near the town’s lighthouse is where a colony of Chipmunks live. Had a lot of fun photographing these fellows as they hunted for food. There are really quite tame coming right up to you… and then running off very quickly before you have the chance to photograph them.

I was quite taken with this image of one of them sitting on the rocks where the live and forage for food looking longingly at the tourists sitting outside the nearby beach cafe. I’m not sure how he or she regards them. Invaders or a source of a free lunch?

Settings: 1/400s, f/4, ISO 100. Lens: EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM @105 mm.
