Hyacinths
We were sent some hyacinths at Christmas. It was a little touch-and-go as to whether they would bloom before we went on holiday. As you can see they just about made it.
For the technically minded the black background is actually our TV. The flowers are illuminated by a handheld speedlight, connected to the camera via an ETTL cable. I held the flash as high as I could and slightly to the front of the flowers. A suitable manual exposure of 1/125s at f/5 was selected and the camera did the rest.
