Ring-necked parakeet on a bird feeder, Heaton Mersey, Stockport, United Kingdom (Image Reference: FL0820A-G00275)

Over the last year or so we have been attracting quite a wide variety of birds to our garden feeder. The most unusual species, however, is a pair of green ring-necked parakeets.

These are not birds that have escaped from someone’s house but there is indeed a small colony of these birds living around south Manchester. This one was on the feeder for quite a while so I had plenty of time to grab a few images

Settings: 1/250s, f/5.6, ISO 1000. Lens: EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM +2x III @350 mm.
