Thanks for this Ian.
I had another go and toned down the HDR effect, it did look better; more shadow along the tow path and the colours seemed richer.
It will be trial and error.

The white along the edge of the water is reflection from the sky, something I’ll need to look out for.

Thanks for this Ian, it is most helpful.
I’ve re-edited the original bearing this in mind and left a layer of must above the buildings.
The final image isn’t the same as the one above, as I haven’t been able to replicate it. I’m still learning editibg, and can’t remember the settings I used (or even which app it was).

Basically, when editing I just make adjustments until I like the look. I suppose it will come with experience that I will know how to create a specific look.

Instagram had cropped the image a little, but not to any great extent.
My intent had been to use the path to lead the eye in them over The Saddle. I can see now the path is hardy visible at that point and still leads the eye away from he rest of the image.

After initially seeing the twig and leaves my eye is drawn to the bottom right, even though it is blurred out. Following the line of the twig from the top left leads me to the lightest part of the background.
