Thank You!

The first think I want to do in this newsletter is to say a big, big thank you firstly and most importantly to everyone who has helped in setting up the studio.  There’s just too many of you to name.  You are all heroes!

Secondly a big thank you to everyone who came along to the opening weekend.  There was I had a lot of fun and it was great to finally see how people could use the space.  What struck me was that people found far more innovative ways to use the studio than I had originally conceived.  I’m still processing my images from the weekend, but many folks have posted theirs to flickr and they look fantastic.

Friday Night at the Studio – Heroes and Villains

Friday 4th March, from 7.00pm – cost just £6.00.  Numbers limited to 15 photographers.

This week see the start of our “Friday Night at the Studio” events, with a table top photography session.

Our first “Friday Night at the Studio” event will be “Heroes and Villains” – at this event we will have several table top studios set-up showing how to create dramatic images of superhero and super-villain figures.  Some of the techniques will use one flash gun/speedlight (such as the hulk image above) others will involve the use of multiple speedlights.  I will also set up a “painting with light” studio so that you can create images with the figures using those techniques.

It would be great to see a good number at this first “Friday Night” event, and remember the cost is only £6.00

Please contact me if you wish to come.

Workshop – Introduction to Studio Photography

Saturday 19th March.  10.00am – 4.00pm.  Cost £65 (Includes printed notes and lunch)

For many people the idea of photography in a studio is both confusing and scary.  I also know that many folks on this have never tried using a studio.  If you fall into either of these categories I’d like to recommend the “Introduction to Studio Photography” event on Saturday 19th March.  At this event I’ll take you though some simple lighting set-ups and show you how to work with models.
