I've noticed that a number of photographers (and models) on G+ are starting to post/upload art nude images. It will be very interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks regarding the posting of such nude images. My understanding of the T&Cs are that it isn't permitted. However I don't recall agreeing to any T&Cs when uploading images. Also as the number of photographers and models uploading art nude images increases it won't be long before G+ comes out with a statement to ban them…. or… hopefully… gives us a tool to just mark them as "moderate" or "18+" or whatever.
PLEASE give us an 18+!! Don't be a tool like facebook!!
well said Emma and Ian hopefully they will listen and give us the 18+ Tag :-)
I uploaded one and got someone to report it, still there.
But if people are uploading these, then I can't view my G+ at work, which mean I'll have to filter them out
+Lisa Chan Brown Which is exactly why some form of "moderate" flag (as we have in flikr) is required, so that folks can set exactly what they wish to see.
you can use the "Send Feedback" button in the bottom right hand corner….might help get the message across.
I saw that term Ian, wording a bit vague. In the end, right now, its down to making sure that you share the right things in the right circles :) +Lynn Wilson – interesting experiment. At Facebook you'd be out on your ear by now :)
+Scott Hortop I'm not sure it is just about sharing with the right circles – yes that's part of it but there's more to it than that. It about being able to turn off selected images at certain times. For example on Flickr I have my preferences set so that I can see art nude images and (hopefully) all such images are suitably marked as such. However, if I'm using my PC in a public place, because such images are marked I can temporarily turn them off. Similarly there are photographers with whom it is appropriate to share such images with for them to view at home but who need them blocked (or at least marked) when on their work PCs.
Ian – I agree – things can be made more controllable. For now I have my art photography circle set up (but no content) & virtually everyone I know who is a grown up person will be in it. That is I suspect is how things will have to be for a while at least.
The problem with both Flickr and Facebook is that their rules are arbitrary and very inconsistent – nor do they offer any appeal or review. There are a lot of nude photographs on Facebook, but others which only imply nudity are removed.
Barrie, don't get me started on Flickr's arbitrary rules – they nearly banned me for having my website URL as part of my watermarking!
I has "your photostream has been marked as moderate" …. but no explanation where I broke the rules. I fought it and then got marked as restricted … and I make enough noise that I got a customer support manager. Still sucks and everyone that touched it offered either a regurgitated answer or was inconsistent from previous communications.
Everyone – use the feedback button to request the ability to display "adult" content. I believe that the TOS for G+ requires everyone to be 18+…
Barrie, feedback sent!
My flickr stream is more rude than yours Barry, and I got marked as safe. But then I had a headshot of a fully clothed girl in a jacket removed from facebook, so it evens out.
I now mark anything with nudity as restricted. Ironic, because the main flickr art nude groups don't accept restricted content.
Tbh I only use flickr to show models their photos. I use DA more for displaying, tho consistering this 500px that the cool kids are using.
