I only received one entry for this month’s photo contest – It was from David Kelly.

No you haven’t missed a message. It’s my bad – I will get them done ASAP. It is good to know that someone wants then – this has been the first feedback I’ve had on them.

To be honest, looking at the download stats it showed that very few people were actually downloading them – typically just 3 downloads for each sheet. So when I got pushed for time that was the thing that go postponed and I kind of got out of the habit.

Anyone else want to add their thoughts about them?

Hi Ed,
Just realised I haven’t added the additional comment that I promised here.

I really like this shot – whether it was ‘lucky’ or not ultimately doesn’t matter. I think the post production work on it works well. And while there is plenty of ‘noise’ probably due to the high ISO I think this adds to the atmosphere of the image – it looks like a ‘vintage’ black and white film image.

The only thing I would suggest is that you crop out the seat back on the right of the image as it doesn’t add anything to the overall composition.

The challenge for you now is to work out how to reproduce this ‘lucky’ shot next time you are flying.

Good catch – but I already knew about that one. Installing SSL broke the embed on the actual posts for videos. Was trying to fix it with the New Year video but the cough & cold got the better of me. The other problem of randomly to the video or the page has been doing my head in since I redid the site. It is caused by the theme treating the video as a second thumbnail (linking to youtube) and the real thumbnail linking to the page (which is what I want to happen).

Finally, I found the fix for what broke with SSL and sorted it on the 2017 NY fireworks page…. and guess what the same fix for sorts the other problem too. I just have to retro-fit the fix to about 50 pages now. Grrr….

Thanks for sharing the image. Dropbox won’t let you embed images so I have grabbed a copy, but it on one of my servers and linked in into the post – hope that’s ok with you.

Really odd, that you should post about ‘lucky’ shots like this. I am currently writing Thursday’s blog post and the theme of it is ‘luck’ when it comes to photography. I saw you thread title and for a brief moment I thought my blog post had gone live before I had even written it!

I will add my thoughts about this image in a little while. But for now let me just say that I like it!
