[Blog] Goals for 2015 – £15 Voucher Winner
A couple of weeks ago I posted about my own goals for 2015, and asked people to let me know their goal. To encourage people to think about their goals I said I would give a £15 voucher to the person who made the most interesting post.
I have selected Vivienne Kehinde as the winner of that voucher. Vivienne wrote:
” I am a beginner in Photography…so as you can imagine av got loads of goals and things I want to achieve. My one and major goal is to aim to get more training to improve my photography skills in the areas of Portrait/beauty photography.”
One of the main aims of the studio is to help beginner photographers, It is also good to hear of someone who specifically wants to learn more about portraiture and beauty photography. I hope the £15 voucher for events at Ian’s Studio will help Vivienne with that goal this year.

Something a bit different for this “Friday Night at the Studio” event. I keep getting people asking me what is involved in getting an LRPS or and ARPS from the Royal Photographic Society. At this event I will explain the process. I will show you my LRPS and ARPS panels and provide you with some feedback/critique on any panels you are planing to submit to the society.
This event is a rerun of the RPS distinctions night that I ran a year ago. Those who attended last time found the event very helpful in preparing their submissions.
Please Note: Although I am a member of the RPS and I have an ARPS distinction. I hold no position with the RPS and this session is not authorised by the RPS. The views expressed are my own and are based on lessons I learned while preparing my own images for submission.

[Video 019] April in Paris Poster
I was asked to produce a poster for a produciton of April in Paris at Stockport Garrick Theatre. The marketing director provided me with some concept art. This video shows how I turned the concept art into an actual photograph.
The video shows the steps involved in setting up a table-top shoot, including how I lit the image.

POTD Thu, 8 Jan 2015: Car Crash
Damage to Ian’s Car
Yesterday as I was on my way home from a business meeting, a car came out of a side street and hit me. I was travelling at about 25 miles an hour and it felt as though the other car was travelling at speed.
My car ended up stradling both sides of the road. Thankfully there was nothing coming the opposite way and neither I nor the driver of the car that hit me were hurt. I was however quite shaken by the experience. This could have been a lot, lot more serious, and I suspect that my guardian angel has a few bruises and scratches from protecting me!
I am still waiting for an assessor to come look at the car, but I have a feeling that the car will be classed as ‘unecconomical to repair’. I’m gutted. I’ve had my MX5 since 2001 and over the last 18 months spent a lot of money on it, having the bodywork done and a new roof put on it.
For anyone interested in looking at the extent of the damage, you can see the full set of images I have taken for insurance purposes here:http://photos.imb.biz/other/ianscardamage
