This was one of several images that I was able to create while visiting the Cairo Museum. There are a couple of things to note about it. Firstly in 2004 when I was there the Museum very briefly changed their photography policy permitting anyone to make photographs and even permitting the use of tripods – providing you purchased a permit for the equivalent of about £2 – so I asked the tour guide if I could meet them back at the entrance at the end of their tour and used the time to create as many images as I could.

Secondly, to improve the saleability of the image, in post-production I converted the background to pure black. I do have a version which shows a pillar behind the statue and a bit of museum architecture behind that. That version has now sold FIVE times.
