Painting with Light – a catacomb in Rabat, Malta
I mentioned in one of the Malta POTD entries (http://www.imb.biz/imenu/admin/adminpage.php?pg=diaryedit&d=2007-11-27) that I would post one of my “painting with light” photos after I got back. This photo was taken inside one of the catacombs at Rabat. There was no lighting within this tomb area. There was a little light coming in from the catacomb on the right. The way the photo was taken was to place the camera on a rock – open the shutter and with our torches Ann and I simply moved the light from the torch over the areas I wanted to be illuminated. The technique is called painting with light.
Great technique great photo. would flash have worked at all? dad
Not really as that would have given a very uniformed lighting. One technique with a flash would have been multiple flashes from different directions to just light different areas.
