Ever thought of doing a workshop on how to market stock images? I had a look at the Alamy site and it all looks very confusing and full of legal jargon!
Hi Martin, I did do an evening on selling stock for the C3 group a couple of years ago, and I'm going to be covering some of that same material as part of my "Intermediate Photography Course" – so spinning it off into a session on it's own right is entirely possible… if there is sufficient interest.
Hi Ian, did you have to supply a property release for this image? I'm still learning about the law and property releases. I read somewhere recently that the photographer is not the one who actually needs the release but the person or company publishing are the ones that do, is this correct? I understand it's probably more complicated than that depending on the future use of the image.
The primary requirement with stock photography is that you accurately describe what releases you have. In this case: none. The buyer/user can then decide whether it is necessary to have a release. Typically editorial use (eg newspaper) doesn't require property releases.
thank you Ian.
